ANOTHER MONTGOMERY COUNTY PURSUIT ENDS IN HARRIS COUNTY CRASH

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX- Around 1:30 a.m. Monday, Shenandoah Police responded to a security alarm at a pharmacy in the 8800 block of Six Pines Drive. The patrol unit arrived to see a man who was dressed in black run out of the building and jump into the passenger side of a black BMW. The car was backed into a parking space, and when the responding Officer tried to block the vehicle to prevent it from leaving, the driver accelerated and intentionally struck the Schandoah patrol vehicle, pushing it far enough out of the way for the BMW to flee.

A pursuit ensued. The suspect headed south on I-45, and reached speeds over 120 miles per hour. When the suspect vehicle exited the freeway near Airtex, the driver lost control, left the roadway, and slammed into a power pole. The collision dropped live power lines on the vehicle. Firefighters worked for nearly an hour to free the trapped passenger. Medics transported the passenger to a local hospital in serious condition. The driver, Jalen Hawkins, was also transported to the hospital as a precaution. Doctors examined Hawkins and released him to Shenandoah Police who transported and booked him into the Montgomery County Jail in Conroe.

Jalen Rashaad Hawkins, 30, of Houston is charged with first-degree felony Aggravated Assault of a Public Servant; third-degree felony Evading Arrest / Detention with a vehicle; and state jail felony Burglary of a Building. As of this posting, bond had not been set.

Shenandoah Police found drugs inside the BMW, and the car was unregistered and believed to be stolen. As a result, charges may be added.
