MONTGOMERY COUNTY RECORDS FIRST FATAL CRASH OF 2015

Just after 2 a.m. on New Year’s Day, Caney Creek Fire Department and Montgomery County Hospital District were dispatched to a major accident on Rocky Road just off Jefferson Chemical and FM 3083. When they arrived, they found that a Mustang GT convertible had been travelling westbound on Rocky Road when the vehicle went into a side skid on wet pavement. The vehicle left the road, struck a tree, and overturned. The driver, David Allen Lovin, 37, of Hutto, Texas was pronounced dead on the scene. His 14-year-old son, a passenger, suffered minor injuries.  The pair had just left the home of a friend that lived a few blocks away when the crash occurred. DPS Troopers Martinez and Brack and Sgt. Barnhill investigated and believe alcohol to be a factor in the crash. Montgomery County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Trey Spikes ordered Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport the victim to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy.
