The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Citizen’s Academy class 2016.1 is gearing up to begin February 18, 2016 and we are accepting applications up until February 4th.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Citizen’s Academy is 16 weeks long and meets each Thursday evening from 7PM to 10 PM. Each night we will introduce you to different units within the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office where you will get to know the men and women who make your streets a safer place. As you meet each unit, you will learn about their specific missions, specialized training and see some of the tools and specialized vehicles with which they do their jobs. The majority of the Citizen’s Academy will be in the classroom environment; however, to break up the monotony every few weeks the class will enjoy tours to include the dispatch center, jail and crime lab. We have one Saturday class planned for a more hands on approach, giving the attendees a chance to put what they have learned to the test and see what it’s like is to be behind the badge as you simulate traffic stops, family violence encounters and other situations law enforcement face daily.
If you are interested, applications are available online at www.mocosheriff.com.
(Please be aware- this is a citizen academy designed to introduce those who live or work in Montgomery County to the Sheriff’s Office and the men and women who work to make your home and business safe. This is NOT a police academy to become certified in the Law Enforcement/Corrections field.)
