Several weeks ago the family of a 14-year-old girl requested the services of a handy-man in the Montgomery area man to change some locks in the house. While he was there the 14-year-old reported the handy man had attempted to sexually assault her. He was reported to have blocked her several times from leaving the room and touching her inappropriately.
The Montgomery Police were notified and started an investigation. That investigation ended yesterday with the arrest of Mathis Tyron Brooks, 45 of 14589 FM 149, Montgomery. He is currently in the Montgomery County jail charged with Indecency with a child by sexual contact. His bond has been set at $100,000.
Brooks has a lengthy criminal history dating back into the early 90’s. His career started with forgery, and evading arrest. in Willis. Later he was charged with stealing a vehicle in Houston. In 2000 he was arrested in Port Arthur for manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance and sent to State Jail for 18-months.
