Montgomery Woman Perishes In Mobile Home Fire.

A late night mobile home fire has claimed the life of a prominent Montgomery County woman. The woman, tentatively identified by family members as Narcissa “Cissy” Martin Boulware, age 93, perished in her home late Sunday night, where she lived alone, on Cissy’s lane off of FM 149, south of the City of Montgomery. Montgomery Fire Department and Lake Conroe arrived on scene at around 10:45 pm Sunday night to find her single wide mobile home fully involved with fire. The roof had already collapsed when fire fighters arrived on scene, making a rescue attempt impossible.

Justice of the Peace Lanny Moriarty ordered the body of the victim sent to the Dallas County Medical Examiner, for an autopsy and for positive identification.

Family members say that there were smoke detectors in the mobile home but could not confirm that they were in good working order.

“Having working smoke detectors throughout your home will cut your chance of dying in a fire by half.    Research conducted by the National Fire Protection Association shows that children under 4 and the elderly are 4 times as likely to die in a fire, mainly due to their inability to respond quickly to a developing fire in the home. It is especially important to upgrade old smoke detectors with new, modern detectors. The Fire Marshal’s Office recommends the use of combination smoke detectors/carbon monoxide detectors, some of which have a battery life of ten years”.

The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause for the fire.
