An early morning mobile home fire has claimed the life of a local Splendora woman. Kimberly Ann Blanco Jones, age 40, perished in the fire this morning around 0330hours. The home was fully engulfed in flames upon the fire department’s arrival. The fire occurred in the family’s mobile home, located in the 22000 block of Yancy. This is just across the railroad tracks from the main Porter Fire station on Loop 494. Her 10 year old son Zachary Jones was able to escape the burning home with only minor injuries. Kimberly Jones’ husband, Tony Jones, a long haul truck driver, was reported to be in Montana at the time of the fire. He has been notified. Zachary Jones, age 10, is with his grandparents in Splendora. Zachary is a student at Porter Elementary School.
There is no indication of working smoke detectors in the home. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
