UPDATE: THE DRIVER OF THE MOTORCYCLE THAT WAS INVOLVED IN THE SINGLE MOTORCYCLE CRASH ON SH 99 EASTBOUND BETWEEN FM 1314 AND SH99 IN PORTER, TEXAS, HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED BY DPS AS PAUL MURPHY VAUGHN, AGE 51 OF PORTER.
Just before 7 pm, a 51-year-old male from Porter was eastbound on SH 99 between Valley Ranch and FM 1314. He failed to negotiate the curve and went into the grass, slamming into the cable barrier. Once he struck the barrier, the 2025 Dacati motorcycle continued running along the cables until it finally went over. The driver had just recently gotten the bike, and the plates were issued earlier today. Witnesses say he was keeping up with traffic and not going at an extreme speed. Porter Fire and MCHD worked on the scene for close to 45 minutes in an attempt to stabilize him. He was pronounced deceased at HCA Kingwood Hospital. DPS investigated the crash, which closed one lane in each direction. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Drone Unit responded to the scene to scale the crash scene. EMC Wrecker removed the motorcycle. All lanes were reopened at 10 pm.
