Just after 1130am Splendora Fire Department and MCHD were dispatched to East River Road at 13th Street. for a motorcycle crash. Within four minutes Splendora Fire Department was on the scene and requested Life Flight due to the severe injuries of the female motorcycle driver.
Once the driver was stabilized she was transported to the Splendora Fire Station where Life Flight transported her to Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center in very critical condition with severe head trauma and lower body trauma.
At 12:43pm Karen Denise Everett 43, of New Port Richey, Florida was pronounced dead at Hermann Hospital.
According to DPS Trooper Justin Lopez who was assisted by Trooper Jimmy Sutton the motorcycle was eastbound on East River and the Chevrolet pickup driven by Jacob Michael Braughton age 20, of Splendora was westbound on East River. The pickup turned left into the gas station in front of the Yamaha Virago motorcycle. The yet unidentified female driver was unable to avoid the collision and struck the pickup just behind the passenger door. Trooper Lopez believes from the evidence on the scene that the female driver of the motorcycle was run over by the truck.
Trooper Lopez did not believe alcohol was a factor in the accident.
