Just before 7 p.m. Sunday, two brothers were on their motorcycles riding single file on the southbound feeder of I-45, just south of FM 1960. According to police, the driver of a vehicle traveling in front of the brothers was unfamiliar with the area. That driver attempted to enter the High Occupancy Vehicle lane, but it was closed.
The confused driver then swerved back onto the feeder, causing the pair of motorcycles behind them to swerve, and forcing the bikes onto the entrance of the HOV lane.
The first motorcycle crashed through the barricade. The second motorcycle did not have time to stop and ran over him.
One brother died at the scene. The other was transported by Life Flight air ambulance to the Texas Medical Center in Houston.
As of this writing, the names have not been released.
