Early this morning, May 1, 2023, at approximately 2:25 am, an Oak Ridge North PD Sergeant observed a motorcycle being operated by a white male commit several traffic violations on Robinson Rd. and Hanna Rd. The Sergeant activated his emergency equipment on his marked patrol car to conduct a traffic stop. The motorcycle rider accelerated onto the northbound IH-45 Service Rd. and then entered the IH-45 N. freeway attempting to evade the Sergeant. The motorcyclist then exited the freeway at Hwy 242 exit at a high-rate speed. The motorcyclist lost control and struck the left curb causing the motorcycle to lose control and exited the roadway into the grassy median. The motorcycle struck several trees causing the rider to be ejected. The motorcycle rider was not wearing a helmet. The rider was pronounced deceased at 2:40 am by MCHD/EMS. The TXDPS is conducting the traffic accident investigation and the MCDAO is investigating the vehicular death. The immediate family has been notified. The motorcycle rider has been identified as Sosa Mendoza, 19 YOA from Spring, Tx.
