On Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at approximately 6:59 pm, Alex Harris was driving a Kawasaki ZX-6 motorcycle westbound in the left turn-only lane in the 5000 block of FM 1960 Rd W. at Greenwood Forest. A Toyota Rav4 was operated by a Hispanic male and occupied by one passenger seated in the front right seat traveling westbound in the left-turn-only lane. At the same time, three vehicles were traveling eastbound in the 5000 block of FM 1960 Rd W. A Toyota Highlander operated by a White female, an Alfa Romero Giulia operated by an African American male, and a Honda Civic operated by a Hispanic male and two passengers seated in the back right and left of the vehicle. Alex Harris drove on the inside of the left-turn-only lane closest to the median that separates the eastbound from the westbound lanes and attempted to change lanes in front of the Rav4. Alex Harris struck the front left quarter in the process, causing the motorcycle to travel over the center median. Alex Harris was separated from the motorcycle as they entered the eastbound lanes of FM 1960 Rd W. Alex Harris came to rest in the middle lane where the Highlander struck him. The motorcycle slid on its left side where the Alfa Romero struck it, and it was redirected after the impact and struck by the Civic. Alex Harris was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was found with no signs of life on the scene. The other drivers did not exhibit indicators of being impaired and cooperated with the investigation. This case remains under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division.
