Montgomery Police crack down on coke
WEST MONTGOMERY COUNTY- A Montgomery man remained in the Montgomery County Jail on Tuesday, five days after his arrest on drug related charges near a Montgomery ISD school.
Michael Layne “Dirty Mike” Brooks, 53, of Montgomery, is charged with state jail felony possession of a controlled substance (cocaine).His bond is set at $1,500.
The Montgomery Police Department arrested Brooks last Thursday at his home on Simonton Street, following a narcotics investigation and about two weeks of surveillance. Suspicious activity including multiple short-term visitors increased suspicions.
A K-9 unit participated in the execution of a search warrant at the residence on Thursday. The dog alerted on the front door of the residence. Police reported finding cocaine inside the residence, along with drug paraphernalia.
The investigation was launched after multiple tips regarding illegal drug activity at that residence, that is around the corner from a school and may fall within the 1,000 feet line, which may enhance drug charges.
MPD received assistance from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit and the Montgomery Independent School District Police.
