MURDER SUSPECT IN CUSTODY

On Wednesday, September 16, 2015, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Detectives were able to obtain a warrant, in reference to the murder of Christopher Michael Rivet that occurred on September 14, 2015. As a result of an ongoing investigation, a murder warrant was issued for Charles Carter Edmondson.

On Thursday, September 17, 2015, Montgomery County Major Crimes Detectives, with the assistance of the United States Marshall Service’s Task Force and Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office, were able to execute the warrant in Port Arthur, Texas.

Charles Carter Edmondson was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office for questioning. Mr. Edmondson was later transported to the Jefferson County Jail and booked in on the murder warrant.

Tana Faye Kelley, a person of interest in the case, as well other individuals, were questioned at the warrant service scene. These individuals were not charged with any crimes at this time.

The investigation is still ongoing at this time.

 

ORIGINAL STORY

On Monday, September 14, 2015, at approximately 7:05 PM, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputies responded to the 12800 block of Johnson Road, in Conroe, in reference to a “911” call reporting a shooting.

When units arrived at the location, Deputies discovered a male lying in the driveway, at the dispatched location, with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Paramedics arrived at the scene and attempted life saving measures which were unsuccessful. The deceased subject was identified as Christopher Michael Rivet. Mr. Rivet was 41 years old and resided in the Conroe area.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Units, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigators, and representatives from the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office responded to the location to conduct an investigation. During the investigation, Detectives discovered that a red or maroon single cab pickup truck pulled into the driveway of the dispatched location minutes before the victim was shot. Witnesses described the driver of the vehicle as a white male, having light colored hair with a fade. Reportedly there was a passenger in the vehicle described as a white female, having dark or auburn shoulder length hair. After the shooting occurred, the suspects were seen fleeing the scene in the truck.

The investigation is still ongoing. Detectives are currently working leads in the investigation and have identified two persons of interest. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Charles Carter Edmondson, 32 years of age from Willis, or his girlfriend, Tana Faye Kelley, 19 years of age from Conroe, is asked to contact the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit at (936) 760-5876.
