NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE STORM UPDATE

There will be several rounds of precipitation that will bring heavy rain and possibly some severe storms tonight through early Thursday morning.

Overview
A slow moving cold front will serve as a focus for showers and thunderstorms tonight, mainly northwest of a Brenham to Livingston line. Training of storms is likely and some heavy rainfall totals are possible. Rainfall totals north the aforementioned line will average between 2 and 3 inches by Wednesday morning with some isolated totals between 4 and 6 inches possible.

The front will move slowly across the area on Wednesday and showers and thunderstorms will develop. Locally heavy rain will again be likely along with the potential for severe storms in the afternoon/early evening.

Timing
Storms will be ongoing at sunrise over the north and these should end by mid morning.
Additional storms will begin to redevelop around 1 PM and expand in coverage and intensity during the afternoon. There should be a brief gap in the storms before yet another round of precipitation develops mid evening and lingers through early Thursday morning.

• Large Hail
• Dangerous Lightning
• Heavy Rainfall
• Isolated Tornadoes (near the coast).
Hydrology
River flooding will be possible. Most of the bayous should remain in banks but is dependent on rainfall rates and if training develops. At this time, the Trinity, San Jacinto and Navasota river basins are the most sensitive to heavy rainfall.

The Day 1 Excessive Rainfall Outlook is for tonight through Wednesday morning (7 AM) and the Day 2 graphic refers to Wednesday morning through Thursday morning (7 AM-7 AM).
