SPLENDORA- During a routine traffic stop early Sunday, Splendora Police Officer Jason Williamson discovered 41 pounds of marijuana and 205 grams of cocaine.
Williamson said he stopped the Lincoln Navigator because of defective equipment and requested consent to search after its driver, from St. Louis, Missouri, acted extremely nervous, had no ID, and could not provide the name of the vehicle’s owner.
The marijuana was in a block like a hay bale, wrapped in plastic and dryer sheets inside a large cardboard box. Ironically, the stop occurred at 4:20*. The cocaine was beneath the marijuana and was discovered after the officers reached the Pct. 4 Constable’s Office.
Williamson, assisted by Pct. 4 Deputy Josh Bergland, arrested 30-year-old Ryechine Money, confiscated the contraband and impounded the SUV.
Bergland, who is experienced in narcotics interdiction, said the street value of the drugs was around $50,000.
Williamson has specialized DWI enforcement training but Money was his first drug related arrest.
