This afternoon turned into a nightmare for New Caney resident Arnold Frazier. What started as a day at the Lake Houston turned into a trip to Hermann Hospital.
Arnold and his wife took the boat out to the lake. His son Steven went with them. He had graduated last night from New Caney High School. Along the lake Steven found a rope swing and had been swinging on it. He let go but wasn’t far enough out into the water falling and severely injuring his neck.
Houston Fire Department responded to Riverchase Village which backs up to Caney Creek on the north side of the lake. That is where they found the young man. He was Life Flighted to Hermann Hospital with what his father describes as a broken neck. He also stated his son had no feeling from his shoulders down.
Arnold Frazier returned to his home on 2nd Street in New Caney to drop his boat and go to Hermann. As he turned on his street he was greeted with Splendora, New Caney and Porter Fire trucks in front of his home.
His garage which held tools, lawnmowers and other personal belongs had burned to the ground.
New Caney Fire Department was dispatched to a grass and woods fire at that location.. When they arrived they found the garage totally involved along with the grass which was spreading into the woods. The immediately called for help from Splendora and Porter Fire Departments which were able to protect the adjacent exposures including Frazier’s home.
We are still awaiting word on Steven Scott Frazier.
