NEW CANEY HOME DESTROYED BY FIRE

On July 30, 2012 Mandi Hewitt and her husband Randy returned from vacation to a home with water running out the front doors. During the time they were gone vandals entered and set water sprinklers in several locations through the home. They spray painted walls and cabinets and  and punched holes in the walls.

At the time it had been insured and after a lot of fight they were able to remodel their, over 3000 square foot home on Willow Street in New Caney.

They had put over a year and a half of sweat and labor into it with new cabinets, added rooms and a beautiful kitchen with custom cabinets. The hardwood flooring was about to be laid this week with preparations to move in at Christmas with their five children.

Due to the damage and the remodel, the insurance company would not insure the home until it was complete.

About 8 p.m. Wednesday night a co-worker who was staying at the home during the construction stages left for a short time. He returned just before 9 p.m to witness fire trucks lied up on the street and flames shooting out of the home.

Mandi stood out front with her mother in dis belief as firefighters from New Caney, Porter, Caney Creek, Splendora and Central Montgomery County Fire Department s fought the stubborn blaze.

The home was heavily destroyed. The Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office will be conducting an investigation to determine the cause.
