6 transported in two separate weekend crashes
Huntsville and New Waverly Firefighters responded Saturday evening to the first
of two serious accidents this weekend. A van rolled over on Interstate 45 in
Huntsville at the 112 mile marker, landing on its side and trapping one
occupant. New Waverly Firefighters responded to assist the Huntsville Fire
Department, working together with hydraulic cutters to open the roof of the van
and free the trapped victim.
Sunday morning, New Waverly and Huntsville firefighters were called to another
serious accident on FM 1374 near the New Birth Assembly of God Church west of New Waverly. The first crews on scene found that a Dodge pickup and a Jeep
Wrangler had collided in front of the church, leaving the Jeep on its side with
one person reported trapped. Walker County EMS and New Waverly firefighters
were able to quickly free the victim from the Jeep and Walker County EMS
transported two victims to Conroe Regional Medical Center and two to Huntsville
Memorial Hospital.
All of the victims transported from these accident scenes were in stable
condition and are expected to recover from their injuries.
Huntsville and New Waverly Firefighters routinely respond to assist each other
on major accidents, especially when there are reports of trapped victims.
