Eighteen firefighters graduated Friday night from the Cleveland Fire Department Fire Academy.
The night started out with a fantastic catered dinner by Splendora Cafe. Firefighters, friends and families gathered as each name was called out and the firefighter received his or her certificate. Many of the nineteen that graduated are from Montgomery County Fire Departments.
The course which started in February and ended this month takes each firefighter through each step of firefighting. Not just the book work needed for fire science and several other classes but actual hands on. Repelling from the roof of Walmart, withstanding extreme heat in burn buildings even with the 100 degree temperatures outside.
The cost of the class was $1500 and when completed and the firefighter tests he becomes a Certified Texas Firefighter.
