Not all “fish tales” are lies…

Last Monday afternoon swift and heavy rains raised the water level of our pond at Bull Sallas Park, which temporarily connected the pond to a drainage ditch. Several large fish swam over to the ditch, where they were dining on an ample amount of insects since the bugs are normally beyond their reach.
Unfortunately for the fish, the water began to recede as quickly as it rose, and they were stranded in the draining ditch.
On Tuesday, Pct. 4 Parks Director Greg Long noticed one of the large fish flopping in the ditch, where it was in the water that would soon be too shallow for survival.
Long contacted Assistant Parks Director Mason Martin, and other members of the Parks Department to assist in returning the fish to their pond. They used a casting net to catch the fish and return them safely to the duck pond, where the water will stay deep enough for their survival.
