Not Even Deputies are Safe from Drunk Drivers

On March 6th, 2023 just after 11 pm, a Pct. 4 K9 Deputy was conducting traffic enforcement in the Kingwood area in Montgomery County, Texas. While attempting to stop another vehicle near the intersection of Northpark Dr. and Hwy 59, another motorist driving a white Chevrolet truck ran a red light causing a collision with the Deputy’s patrol vehicle causing minor damage.
Though the truck initially did not stop after the collision, the Deputy acting quickly was able to get the truck stopped. Upon contact, the Deputy immediately noticed signs of impairment; assisting units arrived and began a Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) investigation.
The investigation resulted in the motorist, Beldanez, Simon, 61 years of age from Cleveland, TX, being placed in custody for Driving While Intoxicated, a class B misdemeanor. This arrest makes it the 49th Driving While Intoxicated arrest made by Montgomery County Precinct 4 Deputies in 2023 alone, showing how much of a problem impaired motorists are for residents in East Montgomery County. Constable Hayden’s enforcement of DWI offenses is to ensure the safety of all motorists on East Montgomery County roadways.
Luckily no injuries were sustained by the Deputy and K9 “Vic,” nor the suspect himself.
