NWS: FLOOD WARNING UPDATE

 

1158 PM CDT THU MAY 26 2016

…The National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston has issued a flood warning
for the following rivers…

  East Fork San Jacinto Near New Caney affecting the following counties in
  Texas…Harris…Liberty…Montgomery

For East Fork San Jacinto River at New Caney, Minor flooding is forecasted.

The current weather is dominated by a line of showers and thunderstorms.
This weather system will produce rainfall amounts ranging from 2 to
4 inches.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Persons with interests along these streams should keep alert to rising water and
take all precautions to protect their property. Do not drive or walk into
flooded areas the depth and water velocity could be too great for you to cross
safely. Motorists should avoid any water covered roads and find an alternate
route. Livestock and equipment should be removed from the flood plain
immediately.

The National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston has issued a

* Flood Warning for
  The East Fork San Jacinto Near New Caney.
* from Saturday afternoon to Monday evening…or until the warning is canceled.
* At 1100 PM Thursday the stage was 8.6 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 19.0 feet.
* Forecast…Rise above flood stage by Saturday afternoon and continue to rise
  to near 19.8 feet by Sunday afternoon. The river will fall below flood
  stage by late Monday morning.
* At 20.0 feet…Moderate lowland flooding begins with minor and secondary roads
  near the river inundated.
