The National Hurricane Center (NHC) continues to monitor a small area of low pressure currently located over the
southwestern Gulf. NHC has now given a medium 50% chance of cyclone formation during the next 24 to 48 hours. As this system moves west-northwest across the southwestern Gulf, it could become a Tropical Depression or a weak Tropical Storm before it makes landfall across northeastern Mexico or South Texas on Friday or early Saturday.
