Hurricane Francine continues to strengthenĀ and move northeast towards the Louisiana coast today; making landfall this afternoon or evening. Francine will move farther east from Southeast TX; however, we will still see some impacts along the immediate coast and coastal waters. Breezy to windy conditions are expected along the coast, with the highest gusts along the islands. Dangerous beach conditions continue with coastal flooding, high surf and strong rip currents along all area beaches. Hazardous marine conditions due to strong winds and elevated seas continue through at least this afternoon. Regarding rainfall, periods of rain, moderate at times, are expected this morning, possibly lingering in the afternoon. The best chances will remain along the coast and offshore. Rainfall totals up 0.50 inches are expected along the coast, lower amounts farther inland. Isolated amounts from 1 to 2 inches cannot be ruled out along the immediate coast.
