Andrew Thomas Cantao, age 39, of Spring, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 12:07 AM, of natural causes. Born on April 20, 1985, in Akron, Ohio, Andrew touched the lives of many with his vibrant spirit, infectious laughter, and deep love for family and friends. Andrew is survived by his beloved parents, pastors Esdras and Karla Cantao; his cherished siblings, Andrea Brazzell and her husband Daniel, and Jonathan Cantao and his wife Helen; grandmothers Margaret Hoff of Smithville, Ohio and Maria Cantao of Belem, Brazil, along with his dear nieces and nephews, Matthew and his wife Jennifer, Joshua, Julia, Jazelyn, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly. He was predeceased by his brother Matthew Cantao, as well as his grandfathers Raymond Hoff of Smithville, Ohio, and Esdras M. Cantao of Belem, Brazil, and his beloved dog, Boots.
Andrew had a passion for music that defined much of his life. He composed music, enjoyed singing in a garage band with his best friends as a teenager, and loved playing guitar and drums. He was known for his love of classic rock and roll, from Jimmy Hendrix to Elvis, and even appeared in a music video. Andrew also had a natural flair for performing. At just 12 years old, he preached a full-length sermon at Cornerstone Foursquare Church in Houston and later co-hosted an episode of Jesus Youth Invasion TV show on KLTJ channel.
His love for Brazilian culture ran deep, stemming from his half-Brazilian heritage. Andrew taught himself Portuguese and cherished the time spent with family in Brazil, traveling there whenever he could. He had a knack for making people smile, often telling humorous stories and jokes, a trait he inherited from his grandfather, Raymond. Andrew had a flair for style, often seen in a sharp suit with greased hair, a fedora, and a chain wallet, embracing everything Rockabilly. He took great joy in attending church and enjoyed singing the hymns he grew up listening to. Above all, he loved God. Andrew was a loving son, playful brother, and devoted friend. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Serving as pallbearers are Jonathan Cantao, Daniel Brazzell, Matthew Brazzell, Joshua Brazzell, Michael Hoff, and Dustin Harvey. Honorary pallbearers are David Middlebush and Max Goldman.
