Evan James Bennett, 65, of Cleveland, TX, passed away on November 14, 2024. He was born to Evelyn Rae Bennett, in Phoenix, Arizona on February 5, 1959. He was the firstborn of seven children. He attended Conroe High School. In August 1995, he met Charlott Burns who would become his wife in June 1997. They recently celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary.
He was a member of Mims Baptist Church and a founding member of the Conroe Cruisers Car Club. He was born with talent and the know-how to work on anything. He started as a teenager working on lawnmowers for people in the area. In High School, he took a mechanics class and an outboard marine class. As a young adult, he was passionate about building transmissions and working on people’s vehicles. He opened his business, Evan’s Transmissions in Conroe and established himself as an honest, Christian business for over 40 years. His favorite quote was ‘Where satisfied customers send their friends.’
He is preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Bennett, and brother, Randy Buchanan. He is survived by his wife, Charlott Bennett; daughter, Lerinda(Nicholas) Ungar; step-son, Steve(Kimberly) Burns; grandchildren, Rylee, Carsyn, Easton, Colton, and Drake; two brothers and three sisters.
