Our sweet mother Sandy Hackman went to be with Her Lord and Saviour Monday, Jan 20, 2025, at her home in The Woodlands Tx. She was born into this world in Scottville, IL on Dec 24, 1940, as Sandra Jo Downs. She was preceded in death by her mother, Cleo Champion, and Father Ralph Downs. Sisters Gloria, Ann, Shirley, and Mary. Brothers Ralph ‘Pud’ Jr, Gary, Robert ‘Bob’, Edward ‘Gene’, Earl ‘Jeep’, Larry ‘Butch’ and Stepbrother Gerald ‘Cowboy’. Daughter Lisa and granddaughter Kelsey Chua.
She is survived by brothers Donald ‘Bill’ and Dana ‘Danny’. Daughters Denise, Jo, and Vicki and son Michael ‘Mike’ She had numerous grandkids, great-grandkids, in-laws, nieces, and nephews whom she cherished and treasured visits with everyone, many living nearby keeping her very busy each week.
She also had a huge extended family of dear friends and co-workers who considered her their own mother or dearest friend as she did them. She was a nurturing mother to all she spoke to making them feel like there was nothing else she thought about. She lived every day of her life in support of others while selflessly bearing her own burdens to live independently until her last day. She enjoyed a very active social life, including karaoke twice a week. Wednesday’s consisted of bus trips to the store so she could meet people, attending games, and other events in her apt complex including a private weekly card game.
Sandy reaffirmed her acceptance of Jesus Christ as her Salvation in front of family and friends at Klein First Baptist Church in the early 90s. She will be terribly missed but we can rest assured that in the presence of the Lord, she can continue to follow her passion of serving others in more ways and places than ever before. She is still with us all through each memory she has placed in our hearts and souls. She has received her reward, so we are blessed to now call her our Angel.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in Sandra’s name to The Alzheimer’s Association at www.alzfdn.org
