OLD HOUSTON REMAINS CLOSED

8AM-Old Houston Road remains closed after part of the roadway washed out this weekend. Commissioner Metts has crews on the scene this morning working. It could be closed most of the day as they dig the ditches to alleviate the water problem and then repair the road surface. Over the past few years, it has been a safety issue with water covering most of the road and motorists not knowing what was under the water surface. In addition, motorists having to drive on the wrong side of the road. Over the weekend MCSO alerted Metts to the road surface damage. After responding to the scene he immediately closed the roadway using barricades. During the course of the day, several motorists drove around and dismantled the barricades causing crews to have to respond back to the scene. MCSO and Precinct 4 was forced to have to spend the night to prevent this from happening.

Driving Around a Water Barricade is a Class B Misdemeanor in Texas. (d)(2) if a person commits an offense under Subsection (a) where a warning sign or barricade has been placed because water is over any portion of a road, street, or highway, the offense is a Class B misdemeanor.
