ONE DEAD IN CLEVELAND SHOOTING

On Thursday, January 02, 2014 at 1:11am the Cleveland Police Department received a 911 call in regards to a person having been shot at a residence located on Hull Avenue.

Officers were dispatched to the residence where the shooting was said to have occurred. Upon arrival Officers found a male subject lying in the prone position with an apparent gunshot wound to the upper torso area. Upon securing the scene, EMS personnel arrived, but was unable to revive the male who had succumbed to the gunshot wound.

Officers detained several subjects who were involved/witnessed the shooting, the Cleveland PD Detective Division was notified to assist with the investigation. Preliminary Investigation found that an ongoing dispute had occurred in regards to the ownership of a vehicle. The vehicle in question was parked at the residence on Hull Avenue. One party who claimed ownership due to missed payments made the decision to attempt to gain possession of the disputed vehicle during the early morning hours.

The owner of the residence awakened to discover two subjects in his gated yard attempting to take the vehicle in question. The owner shot one of the subjects during their attempt, as the other subject fled the scene. Both the owner and the fleeing subject contacted Cleveland PD Dispatch Operators via 911 emergency line to report the shooting.

The subject was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Ralph Fuller.

No further details can be released at this time due to proper notification of the deceased next of kin.

This is an ongoing investigation.
