one suspect found from this mornings attempted theft of a welding machine—shot

On  February 22, 2012 at approximately 4:15a.m the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to a shooting which had just occurred on State Highway 321 and County Road 2274.  The complainant indicated to the dispatcher two males in a black over tan Ford Expedition had pulled onto his property.  Both men exited said vehicle and began to steal a welding machine from his property.

The Complainant then exited the residence armed with a fire arm and discharged the weapon towards the two men and their vehicle.  The complainant indicated the suspects jumped back into the vehicle and  fled south on Highway 321 towards the F.M. 1960 – Highway 90 area.

Upon arrival, LCSO Deputies conducted an investigation where shards of broken glass were located on the property where the complainant indicated the suspect vehicle had been parked at the time of the shooting.  No property was stolen as both suspects immediately fled when shots were fired. 

A short time later, approximately 5:00a.m. the Harris County Sheriff’s Office received a call on Highway 90 near Beltway 8 where a black over tan Ford Expedition was on the roadway and a male near the vehicle had a gunshot wound.  Based upon the similarities of the vehicle and damage to the vehicle, as indicated by the complainant in Liberty County, Detectives from the LCSO contacted the                  Harris County Sheriff’s Office and now both Agencies are working together in an attempt to further process this case.

At this time the identity of the male with the gunshot wound is not being released as the investigation remains open and active.  Deputies are also looking for the second male suspect from the incident in Liberty County.  The Complainant in this incident is not currently facing any criminal charges, however, at a later time in the investigation process, this case could go before a Grand Jury for review.
