Saturday night the hands on the clock hit midnight. It was then that the doors locked forever at Overall’s Grocery at US 59 and FM 1485. THe store started out in 1969 andmoved to that location in 1972. When Floyd Overall p-assed away Ms. Nancy (Nancy Overall) kept the store going along with her son’s. She has finally decided to retire and enjoy some cruises and a trip in May to Niagra Falls. Friends and customers flocked the store all day Saturday. Saturday night was no different. “Howlin Howie”, from Porter made his appearance before midnight with his guitar to play a few of Ms. Nancy’s favorite Elvis tunes and a few others. Constable Hayden came by to say good-bye also. He said he had been coming to the store since he was a boy and then when he worked with the Sheriff’s Office it was the only place open late to get a good cup of coffee and a meeting place. As most visited , the little ones spent time trying to catch the last of the minnows in the tank which has supplied many fishermen over the years. Many rumors are floating around as to what will be taking its place. The property has not been sold and the taxadermy business will remain at the location. Many trophies remain on the walls and will stay in place.
