OVERNIGHT WEATHER CAUSES HAVOC FOR MOTORISTS

Sunday night rains moved in first causing issues as Harris County Precinct 4 Constables attempted to stop a stolen truck near Eldridge and US 290. A chase started and continued down Spring Cypress to Champion Forest to Stuebner Airline and along FM 2920 to Dowdell Road. It then went to Kuykendahl. About that time a DPS helicopter which was on the way to the chase had to turn around due to a storm moving south. Moments later the deputies now had to contend with slick roads and intense rains. The truck ran through several subdivisions until going off road into the woods. There a male and a female jumped out and ran into the woods. With the heavy rains and lightning, an HPD K-9 Officer who was shadowing the chase was not able to release his dog. A perimeter was set up but the suspects were not found.
About an hour later vehicles in the Lakewood Forest Subdivision off Grant and Jones Roads had to contend with water coming up on the doors of vehicles.
Just after 230am a Family Dollar 18-wheeler jack knifed on I-45 southbound just north of Shepherd Hill. There were no injuries or other vehicles involved.
Those rains continued into the morning sparking several water rescue calls to the Montgomery Fire Department in Walden as motorists drove into high waters. Those rains moved south into The Woodlands causing havoc there. An Oak Ridge Patrol unit was on a traffic stop on I-45 near Woodlands Parkway when a driver fleeing from another crash slammed into the patrol car and injuring the officer.
