OFFICIAL FACEBOOK FOR SEIZED ANIMALS FROM SPINDLETOP

If you LEGALLY OWN a dog believed to have been at Spindletop Refuge at the time of seizure, and have not yet been contacted directly, please immediately email [email protected]. “Legally own” means you did not surrender your dog to Spindletop Refuge for the purpose of adoption or sanctuary.
If you surrendered or transferred a dog or dogs to Spindletop Refuge for sanctuary or adoption, and you wish to reclaim the dog(s), beginning Thursday, July 26, at 1:00pm, you will have the limited opportunity to travel to the temporary shelter and LOOK THROUGH A PHOTO BOOK OF DOGS CURRENTLY UNCLAIMED IN THE TEMPORARY SHELTER. You will be given a photo book of dogs that fit the general description of the dog(s) for which you are searching. If you identify a dog that is reasonably close in appearance to the dog(s) you are searching for, shelter staff will bring dogs from inside the shelter out to you to potentially identify. Nobody will be permitted to walk through the temporary shelter. No exceptions.
1. You must have an appointment to look through the photo book
2. You must have photo identification for yourself
3. Six people per hour will be given appointments. Appointments are on a first come, first served basis and are at the top of each hour
4. Appointments are available on Thursday, July 26, 1:00pm – 6:00pm and Friday, July 27, 10:00am – 6:00pm, on the hour
5. You must have with you clear and detailed photographs with you that show recognizable physical features of the dog(s) for which you are searching
6.Please also bring with you paperwork (photos, vet records, receipts, emails, etc) that will serve as evidence that you have a rightful claim to the dog(s).
7. Having an appointment does not mean that you will not have to wait your turn
8. Unless you have indisputable evidence that a dog is yours, you will not be permitted to reclaim the dog
To make an appointment, please email [email protected] with your top 3 appointment choices (ie, “ I am looking for a dog. Here are my top three appointment choices: Thurs 1pm, Thurs 4pm and Fri 2pm). You will receive an email confirmation for your appointment.
We apologize for having so many rules to follow. Please understand that we are doing our very best to make sure that dogs are not claimed by those who do not have a legitimate claim for a particular dog.
If you have already been contacted to reclaim a dog, you do not need to make another appointment to look through the photo books.
We have a handful of identified and potentially identified dogs that have reclaim submissions. We will be contacting those people within the next 24 hours.
Next week, we will continue conducting placement evaluations for unclaimed dogs and then make those dogs available to adoption agencies.
