PATTON VILLAGE MAYOR CALLS FOR EMERGENCY CITY COUNCIL MEETING ON A NATIONAL HOLIDAY

At 7:55 p.m. Tuesday night Patton Village Mayor Pamela  Munoz posted a notice on the front door of the city council chambers calling for an emergency meeting at 4 pm today. It was said to be dealing with maters dealing with the police department.

The Texas Open Meetings requires the notice to be posted 72 hours in advance but does allow for 2 hours if it deals with a public emergency.

The 4 pm meeting was about to start with Mayor Pamela Munoz, City Councilwoman Lynda Delaney and city councilman Billy Crittenden present. However, before it started Councilman Billy Crittenden got up and left telling the council he wouldn’t have part in this illegal meeting.

Moments later Munoz emerged from the city council chambers telling mostly officers that were standing out front that she was shutting down the police department and was calling in the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

Not long after it seemed like police still had their jobs, as the media showed up Munoz said there were not enough there for the meeting and refused any other comment.

Munoz is currently under indictment by the Montgomery County Grand Jury. She is scheduled to appear I court later this month.
