About 10 pm Sunday night reports of heavy smoke started to come into 911 dispatchers from the Patton Village area. East Montgomery County, Patton Village Police and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded. For close to an hour searches were done trying to locate the source which had a layer of smoke well into Patton Village, also along US 59 on both sides and down as far south as SH 242. The railroad was contacted to see if a passing train had any issues. They advised when they went through there was a fire under the bridge on US 59. Firefighters responded there and discovered a vehicle which appeared to have gotten high centered as someone tried to push it off into the flood waters. The vehicle was completely incinerated. With the water and muddy conditions under the bridge, Valentin Wrecker was able to get to it and pull it onto the bed of the truck and transport it to a fire truck to be totally extinguished.
