MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX- On Monday, Deputy Paige and K-9 Max with Precinct 3 Constable Ryan Gable’s office conducted a traffic stop on a pickup truck that was traveling at high rate of speed southbound on I-45 near Hwy 105. When the Deputy made contact with the driver, he refused to cooperate with Deputy Paige’s instructions. Deputy Paige then instructed the driver to exit his vehicle, at which time, the driver began to physically fight with Deputy Paige. Deputy Paige deployed his TASER, which was not effective. Deputy Paige then managed to release K-9 Max, who after a short introduction, was able to convince the suspect to cooperate.
The driver initially gave a false name, but with the use of a mobile fingerprint identification tool, he was identified as 39-year-old Carlos Leal. The camera-shy suspect had Marijuana and Methamphetamine concealed on his person in several locations. Leal was also found to have an open warrant for assaulting a family member. Leal was booked into the Montgomery County Jail for the Narcotics and Resisting Arrest on a $4,500 bond. Leal’s female passenger was released at the scene.
Carlos Leal of Houston is charged with third-degree felony Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1-B, more than 1 gram, less than 4 grams; Resisting Arrest, Search, or Transport (Class A Misdemeanor); Fail to ID Fugitive from Justice / Give False Information (Class A Misdemeanor) and an outstanding warrant for Assault / Family Violence (Class A Misdemeanor). Bond is not set as of this writing.
