The “Cliff Williams Immediate Resignation from Willis ISD School Board” petition, created by a group called Wildkat Advocates, states the following:
“As concerned members of the Willis community, we call upon Willis ISD School Board Trustee Cliff Williams to resign from his position on the Willis Independent School District (ISD) School Board immediately. The children of Willis ISD deserve lawful leadership and a better example for our local community.
Personal Story:
I am a resident of Willis, TX, deeply invested in the education and well-being of our children. It is disheartening to witness the actions and behavior displayed by Cliff Williams as an elected member of the Willis ISD School Board. Â
Trustees are tasked with making decisions that shape the future of our educational system, impacting not only students but also teachers, parents, and the entire community. However, it has become evident that Mr. Williams has failed to uphold this responsibility with integrity.
After his recent DWI arrest, resignation is eminent. While these charges require thorough investigation for confirmation or refutation, they raise serious concerns about his ability to act solely in the best interests of our students.
It is crucial for public officials serving on school boards to maintain high standards when it comes to ethics and accountability since they directly impact educational policies that affect thousands of young minds every day.
We believe that all individuals serving as trustees should exemplify qualities such as integrity, respectfulness towards colleagues and constituents alike, transparency in decision-making processes, and an unwavering commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment for all students.
Therefore:
1) We demand Trustee Cliff Williams to resign immediately from his position on the Willis ISD School Board.
2) We urge the Willis ISD School Board to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations of conflicts of interest against Mr. Williams, ensuring transparency and accountability in the process.
3) We call upon the Willis ISD community to remain vigilant and actively participate in future school board elections, ensuring that candidates possess the necessary qualities and values required for effective governance.
Our children deserve better. Let us unite as a community to ensure that our educational system is led by individuals who prioritize their well-being above all else. Sign this petition now to demand Trustee Cliff Williams’ immediate resignation from the Willis ISD School Board!”
