The incident occurred in a backyard occupied by three of the dogs near the intersection of Sweetgum and Live Oak. The child’s aunt called 911, saying the child was seriously injured and she sustained injuries trying to free the child from the dog.

Call takers gave the woman instructions on how to try and stop the child’s bleeding, along with her own.

Medics arrived and called for a Life Flight medical helicopter, which took the child to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston in critical condition. The child’s aunt was transported by ground ambulance to Kingwood Medical Center in stable condition.

Animal Control officers were only able to remove one of the three Pit Bulls because the man who owns them refused to turn over the other two dogs.

Detectives with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office are investigating.

A neighbor said the dogs get out on a regular basis and has chased some of the neighborhood children. He has had to kick at them or chase them away with a bat.
