PLEASE RESTRAIN YOUR CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE-FATAL CRASH WITH 5 UNRESTRAINED CHILDREN

At 426pm a red Chevrolet Tahoe was westbound in the 14700 block of Woodforest when the vehicle swerved for unknown reasons striking the bridge railing over Carpenter Bayou. The driver was pronounced deceased at the hospital, a 7-month-old unrestrained child was in the back seat and thrown. That child was in the lap of an adult. That child was Lifeflighted and is now stable at Memorial Hermann in Houston. Four other children who were unrestrained suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Additional there were two other adults in the vehicle who suffered non-life-threatening injuries. According to Harris County Sheriff’s Office, nobody was restrained. The vehicle with no third seat and captains chairs had a total of 8 people in the vehicle. Three children were in the rear cargo area.

UPDATE____ On Saturday, March 09, 2019, at approximately 4:26 PM, a maroon 2003 GMC Yukon was traveling westbound on the westbound lanes in the 14700 block of Woodforest Blvd. Carmen Lopez, A 25-year-old female operated the GMC. Lopez failed to drive in a single lane and veered off the roadway to the right striking a concrete wall for the Carpenter’s Bayou Bridge. The front end of the GMC made contact with the wall. Two adult female passengers and five children passengers (ranging from ages of one-year-old to 11 years old) occupied the GMC. The five children were not restrained in seat belts, booster seats, and/or car seats at the time of the crash. The two adult passengers and five children were transported to Memorial Hermann-Texas Center for non-incapacitating injuries at this time. The complainant was transported by Life Flight #6 to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased at 5:47 PM by Doctor Harvin. This crash remains under the investigation of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division.
