In the past several hours the winds have picked up with gusts up to 30 MPH in the Conroe area. River Plantation Fire Department is currently on a large grass fire off Fenley Road caused by outside burning of trash and construction debris. With the high winds the fire moved across several properties and threatened one home and several outside buildings. Needham Road Fire Department and Caney Creek Fire Department are also assisting on this fire.
The winds are not expected to die until later tonight. Any fire can quickly get out of control. With the dry conditions a fire like this will move quite quickly.
