POLICE SHOOTOUT SUSPECT DEAD

According to Precinct 4 Constables in Harris County the suspect who shot Deputy Ted Dahlin earlier this evening was pronounced dead at Hermann Hospital after being Life Flighted from the scene at FM 2920 just east of Cypress Rosehill near the entrance to the Holly Creek Trace Subdivision.

Deputy Dahlin stopped the suspect in his truck on a traffic offense. When he was asked to step out of his vehicle the suspect produced a gun and started shooting. Dahlin was shot once in the arm with the bullet lodging in his elbow. He is currently in stable condition at a Harris County Hospital and undergoing surgery to remove that bullet. His knuckle was also grazed.

The suspect, a career criminal was shot in the leg, torso and head. He did have active warrants.

Deputy Dahlin, a 14-year veteran of Harris County did have his K-9 with him but was not able to release the dog before being shot.

Dahlin and his late K-9 partner Blek made national news in December of 2009 when a burglary suspect was able to strangle him to death after Dahlin turned him loss into the woods to assist the apprehension of five suspects wanted in a burglary.
