PORTER FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDS TO WEST TEXAS WILDFIRE

The Porter Fire Department was activated early Saturday to respond to a wildfire in Tom Green County near San Angelo, Texas. Under an agreement with the Texas Forest Service who assisted Porter in obtaining a booster truck. in exchange they can be activated anywhere in the state to assist on fires. At 10pm Saturday night the 5000 acre fire near the community of Christoval has prompted voluntary evacuations.

Late Saturday afternoon the Porter firefighters arrived on the scene to back up at least 200 other firefighters already there. Only two structures have been lost so far, a barn and an abandon building.
