Jimmy lee Moore, 48, of Porter is charged with third-degree felony Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Drug Free zone, (Penalty Group 1), less than one gram; state jail felony Evading Arrest/Detention with Previous Conviction; and an outstanding felony warrant.
Around 2:15 p.m. Sunday, a Pct. 4 Deputy responded to information that an older man was drinking alcohol with two younger females in front of a store on Ford Road at Linda Lane in Porter. He arrived to find a man with two female juveniles and one male juvenile near the corner of the building. The deputy made contact with the group and noticed part of a marijuana cigarette and an alcoholic beverage can that was still cold on the ground between the two girls, who were 12 and 13 years old. The boy was 14. The deputy asked all four to walk to his patrol vehicle and the three juveniles complied. The grown man in the group, Jimmy Moore, instead headed toward the store but returned to the vehicle when the deputy instructed him to do so. When the suspect emptied his pockets, he produced a marijuana pipe and synthetic marijuana. Moore then attempted to flee on foot, but the deputy caught and detained him. When the deputy searched Moore, he discovered Moore also had a glass smoking pipe containing crack cocaine residue. A check of his identification through dispatch revealed he had a blue warrant (parole violation). Moore was arrested and the juveniles were released to parents.
