MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX- On Tuesday, Detective Eric Prado, with Pct. 4 Constable Kenneth “Rowdy” Hayden’s Office headed up initiation of a search warrant at a home in the Deerwood subdivision near Grangerland
Prado said the agency received a cyber tip that began with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, who contacted the Houston Area Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Taskforce. The Precinct 4 Constable’s Office partners with other agencies in that group to fight online crimes connected with sexual abuse of children.
Detective Prado launched a local investigation and identified the suspect, Carlos Alvarenga. Prado had enough evidence to obtain a probable cause search warrant, which was executed Tuesday morning. Prado said when child pornography is uploaded, internet service providers often tag it and notify law enforcement. If that information reaches an ICAC taskforce, a thorough investigation is launched to determine if cybercrimes have been committed.
Carlos David Alvarenga, 23, of Conroe is charged with first-degree felony Possession of Child Pornography, More Than 500 Visual Depictions and second-degree felony Sexual Performance by a Child Employ / Induce / Authorize. Both charges will be tried in the 359th District Court. Bond was not set as of this posting.
