Precinct 4’s New Crime-Fighting Family

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX- Throughout American history, sons who followed in their father’s footsteps in public service have been honored and recognized, depicted in books, on stages, in movies, and television. In some families, the tradition carries on through multiple generations, such as the Hayden family, in East Montgomery County. Pct. 4 Constable Kenneth “Rowdy” Hayden holds the position once held by his late father, Charles Hayden. Constable Rowdy Hayden’s three sons are also public servants, with two in law enforcement, and one a firefighter, making three generations of Haydens public servants.

It’s only fitting Constable Rowdy Hayden would have two generations of one family serve with his agency.   But, typical of the Constable’s reputation for always being open to updating and modernizing, the two generations working as law enforcement in Precinct 4 are not father and son. They’re MOTHER and son!

Deputy Nicole Dickerson became an official Montgomery County hire on June 10, 2023. One year and one week later, on June 17, 2024, her son, Deputy Brett Dickerson became a county employee and joined his mom as a member of the Pct. 4 Constable’s Office. What’s more, Deputy Brett Dickerson’s grandfather, Nicole Dickerson’s dad, was the late Steven Wheeler, who served for many years as City of Cleveland Fire Chief. This makes Deputy Brett Dickerson a third-generation public servant, just like Constable Hayden’s three sons.

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”  Proverbs 22:6
