GRIMES COUNTY, TX- A little after 2 a.m. Wednesday, a Grimes County Sheriff’s Deputy initiated a traffic stop for speeding at CR 202, entering the Pinebrook Subdivision. The motorcycle operator, a man with a woman passenger, refused to stop and a pursuit ensued through the subdivision, reaching speeds of 100 MPH. The motorcycle entered Hwy 249 and eastbound toward Montgomery County, traveling at speeds in excess of 130 MPH. The motorcycle entered another subdivision at Zion Road and Antonia Lane and the operator lost control at that intersection and laid down the bike. The woman who’d been on the back was pinned beneath the heavy motorcycle, unlike the man who’d been operating the bike. He proceeded to run from the crash site, and Deputies gave chase.
Deputies found the suspect, 38-year-old James Don George, hiding under a vehicle. They took him into custody and learned George had a warrant through Texas Pardons and Paroles for a felony narcotics offense. Deputies found a plastic sandwich bag containing what appeared to be methamphetamine George allegedly tossed while evading. If those infractions weren’t enough, a check of the motorcycle registration revealed it was reported stolen through the Conroe Police Department. The woman, who also had warrants for narcotic offenses, was transported to a hospital in the Woodlands for significant leg injuries.
George is charged with first-degree felony Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon; third-degree felony Evading Arrest/Detention with Vehicle, with Previous Convictions; state jail felony Evading Arrest/Detention with Previous Convictions; state jail felony Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle; third-degree felony Tampering/Fabricate Physical Evidence with Intent to Impair; third-degree felony Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1/1-B more than 1 gram, but less than 4 grams; and a Blue Warrant, issued by the Texas Board of Pardons and Parole for Violation of terms.
The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office thanks the Magnolia Police Department, Montgomery County Pct. 5 Constable Chris Jones’s Office and the Tomball Police Department for assisting in this pursuit.
