HARRIS COUNTY, TX- As most in southeast Texas already heard, a Deputy with Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman’s Office was ambushed and shot to death around lunchtime Tuesday. Deputy Maher Husseini was in uniform, stopped for a redlight at the intersection of Richmond Avenue and Fondren Road in Houston as he drove to work.

Shockwaves were felt throughout southeast Texas and far beyond, as word of the tragedy spread. Husseini’s brothers and sisters in blue were, and are, devastated – especially those who wear the same uniform and never imagined an ordinary Tuesday would end with escorting one of their own to the morgue.

In keeping with tradition, law enforcement law enforcement gathered at Ben Taub Hospital and honored the fallen Deputy’s life with a procession, led by motorcycle Deputies and followed by patrol vehicles and the vehicle transporting Deputy Husseini to the Medical Examiner’s Office.
