Just before midnight on Wednesday Caleb Jenkins of New Caney was driving his motorcycle down Loop 494 when a Precinct 4 Deputy attempted to stop him on a license plate violation. Jenkins turned into a private parking lot as the unit followed him in. A second unit on patrol was just passing on 494 when Jenkins bolted out of the parking lot at a high rate of speed driving down the wrong side of the road passing vehicles. He then headed east on FM 1485 at speeds up to 90 miles per hour. As he approached the curve at Redbud where the new SH 99 overpass crosses he went straight, going through a large body of water and slamming into the concrete road edge on the opposite side. Jenkins was transported to Kingwood Hospital with a knee injury and road rash. He was then transported to the Montgomery County Jail on charges of evading arrest on a motor vehicle. Jenkins turned a simple ticket into a felony charge. He had no other warrants.
