Approximately 10:30 p.m. Thursday night Montgomery County Sheriffs Office attempted to pull a vehicle over on US 59 at FM 1314. The driver John Arthur Rangel, age 47, of Porter, cut through the McDonalds parking lot onto Church Street then back onto FM 1314. He continued north of FM 1314 to Andrew He then traveled north on Andrew Baldwin to Walnut and west on South Hillcrest where he turned into a private drive. Sheriff’s Deputies ad DPS Troopers too him into custody there. In his vehicle they found a gun was was possibly stolen.
He is now in the Montgomery County Jail on a charge of Evading and Unlawful possession of a firearm.
He was convicted in 1996 of possession of a controlled substance and sentenced to TDC for 2 years.
