PURSUIT RESULTS IN SHOTS FIRED AT OFFICERS

Just after 8pm a Dayton Police Officer on routine patrol on Highway 321 just north of Dayton spotted a 4-wheel drive pickup pulling a trailer which was loaded with a 4×4 Razor. The trailer had no license plate and the ramp was dragging on the ground. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle when he sped up. The officer started a pursuit. She chased the vehicle west on FM 1960 at speeds of up to 100 miles per hour. As they approached the Harris County line they terminated the pursuit due to fear the vehicle may strike a motorist. Moments later a DPS unit north on FM 2100 north of Huffman spotted the vehicle. It ran west on Hargrave Road the continued down River Terrace Drive. The driver the cut into a small trail in the woods and continued deep into the woods. As officers approached the road shots were fired by the what is believed to be two suspects. An assist the officer was put out bringing over thirty Harris County Sheriff’s Deputies, Houston Police and Constables to the scene. A perimeter was set up. Several K-9’s were deployed as officers entered the woods. The truck was found buried to the axles in mud. The trailer with the 4-wheeler was still attatched and the generator was still in the back of the truck. Several weapons were recovered from the vehicle, however a pistol was missing. The owner who lived off FM 1008 near Dayton was not home at the time of the theft but was made aware f it when he arrived home and reported the theft. Wreckers were able to recover the 4-wheeler but the truck and trailer was too deep into the woods in the swamp conditions to recover. They were going to attempt to use a tractor later. The suspects were not found. There were no injuries.
